New York was one of the cities I enjoyed the most so fare. I went there in 2004, on Christmas, there was a wonderful christmas environment and large commercial buzz. The streets were filled with people, in spite of the cold. Of course, I tried to visit all the city icons, from the 5th Avenue (enormous) to the museums and most emblematic buildings.
I went to the American Museum of Natural History (full of large dinosaur skeletons), to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) where I saw my favorite painting ever "The Girls of Avignon" by Picasso and to the Guggenheim Museum (with it´s bold architecture, as it could not fail to be). I loved the view of the city from the top of the Empire State Building, it was already night when we climb (wondrous, we could feel the ground shaking beneath our feet). I walked in Central Park, where we gave food to a squirrel and asked a gentleman if he could take us a picture. I learned that saying "whiskey" also leaves us smiling on the photo :D We were in Manhattan and in Chinatown, we went on a boat alongside with the Liberty Statue and beneath all the bridges of the city, Brooklyn bridge was the one I found the most beautiful.
Did you see the movie "Working Girl" with Melanie Griffith? Remember the scene where she walks in public tansport wearing tennis shoes which she changes for a high-heeled shoes when she arrives at he work? It's exactly like that in New York, women walking on the street and very well produced wearing white tennis shoes :))) And the amount of limousines at the street?... many!
New York is indeed a very cosmopolitan city and full of charm. I was only sorry for not staying in a few extra days and end up spending New Year´s eve in Times Square, with its bright illuminated signs, to see the most famous glass ball going down along with hundreds of thousands of people :)
