HERANÇA DE FAMILIA

Diz o meu pai que esta máquina fotográfica é mais velha do que ele e ele já tem 73 anos! Era do meu avó, que, fiquei a saber, para além de fotógrafo era também relojoeiro e ourives. Recorda que tinha 13 anos quando mexeu pela primeira vez nela: - Funcionava com chapa… agora já não funciona, pois, apesar do fole e da objectiva estarem em boas condições, está incompleta e as peças em faltam deixaram de se fabricar. É uma pena… fica a boa recordação de tempos áureos! Contou-me ainda, que a fotografia entrou na corrente sanguínea da família Cunha através do meu bisavó, que aprendeu a arte de fotografar com um fotógrafo ambulante espanhol… antigamente era assim, os fotógrafos eram ambulantes e iam de terra em terra para oferecer os seus serviços fotográficos, sendo os espanhóis quem na altura dominavam o negócio. Andou pelas terriolas de Portugal, isto antes da 2.ª grande guerra mundial quando ainda nem havia luz eléctrica e a luz usada em estúdio era a luz natural, que provinha normalmente de uma clarabóia e era controlada com "lençóis" que serviam de filtros.

My father says that this camera is older than him and he has already 73 years old! It was my grandfather´s who, I learned; besides photographer was also watchmaker and goldsmith. He reminds that he was thirteen when he first touched it: - It worked with plate... now is not working anymore because, although the bellows and the lens are in good condition, is incomplete and the missing parts are no longer manufactured. It's a shame but now a good memory of the golden days! He told me that photography has entered the bloodstream of Cunha family through my great-grandfather, who learned the photo art with a Spanish itinerant photographer... that´s the way it was, photographers were itinerants and moved from village to village offering their photographic services. So he traveled around Portugal, even before the 2nd world war, when there was still no electric light and the light used in the studio was natural light and  usually came from a skylight and was controlled with "bed sheets" that served as filters.
